FIELD STATUS
Elkhorn field status updates will be listed here and alerts will be sent via email, social media and through the GroupMe App, which can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. To follow the EAA Field Status thread on GroupMe, scan the QR code or click here.
If fields are open, all games are playable. If the weather changes by game time and fields are not closed, then the umpire and coaches will make the call at the field to suspend or cancel the game.
- FIELD UPDATES FOR GAMES will only be sent on days impacted by rain outs causing closed fields. Consecutive OPEN days will not have an update.
- FIELD UPDATES FOR PRACTICES Unless otherwise posted above by the league, field conditions for practices will be the responsibility of the coach. Do NOT practice on fields with standing water. Do NOT practice on fields if it is wet enough to leave imprints. Do NOT practice on fields slick/greasy to the point where it is a safety issue for the players.
- FIELD UPDATE DEADLINE - Field updates will be made between 3:00-4:00 p.m. each day (M-F) and two hours before game time on weekends. The site is only updated when it is impacted by a closure. Consecutive open days will not have a new time stamp.
- RAIN - Please be mindful of impending rain. Playing on fields wet enough to leave imprints affect prep for the next day after it dries out.
- PARTIALLY OPEN FIELDS - View the field comments to determine status of infield/outfield. Most outfields can be used following an infield rain out.
- OUT-OF-TOWN FIELD UPDATES - Contact the opposing coach for out-of-town field updates.
FIELD STATUS
WEATHER UPDATE STAMP
4/20/24: Saturday Elkhorn home baseball and softball games scheduled before 11:00 AM are cancelled due to the projected weather forecast. Games scheduled for 11:00 AM and later are currently still scheduled to play. If you play an away game, contact the home team for game status. Any EAA cancelled Two Rivers League games will be rescheduled.
*On days when we have weather issues, please check the field status above between 3:00-4:00pm on weekdays or two hours before game time on weekends.
COLD WEATHER
Play is not permitted when temperature is below 45 degrees with the forecast to be at or below that temperature for the duration of the game. Discretion is allowed in cases when the temperature is above 42 degrees and the hour-by-hour forecast calls for the temperature to reach or exceed 45 during the duration of the game. Please be thoughtful and consider the increased chance of injury to players as well as the enjoyment of the game for the players, coaches and fans when considering discretionary determinations.
PRECIPITATION & LIGHTNING
Play is not permitted when fields are deemed unplayable by the league due to precipitation. Play is to be cancelled, postponed or delayed in cases of visible lightning. These policies are not discretionary.
NOTE: Be thoughtful of player’s aluminum bats as they are more susceptible to denting in temperatures below 50 degrees.
