RULES

RULES

Teams must follow the EAA Futures 8U/10U/12U Rules with the following exceptions and notes:

Games will be 70 minutes, Finish the Inning, with no new inning starting after 70 minutes. Up to 7 innings will be allowed.

The higher seed has the option of Home/Visitor.

Mercy/Run Rules: No more than 5 runs per inning; game is over if a team is up 15 runs after 3 innings, 10 after 4 innings, or 8 after 5 innings.

Games cannot end in a tie. If the game is tied after the time runs out, the International Tiebreaker Rule goes into effect. At the start of each inning, a runner is placed on 2nd base with the intent of accelerating opportunities to score and bringing the game to a speedier conclusion.

Positional Rotations: Pitchers and catchers will be allowed unlimited innings at these positions. Other positions will be limited to 2 innings per player. Non-pitcher/catcher players should get equal playing time and should not sit more than one inning in a row.

Courtesy Runners:

A courtesy runner will be allowed for the pitcher and the catcher, or an injured player. The courtesy runner can be any player, but the same player cannot run for more than one other player per inning.

*If a player is on base when it is their time to bat: They will be removed from the base and take their turn at bat, and the person who they are running for will be called out.

*Note about coach pitching (10U):

When the coach pitcher comes in, he/she must pitch from the pitching rubber. The pitch must be released with the first step that lands after the push-off from the rubber.

Roster Clarification (updated 6/14/23)- The minimum roster to play in the league tournament is 7. If your team has less than 7 rostered players available (not counting borrowed/guest players), you may still play, but the team will take a loss after the completion of the game. If your roster is under 9 rostered players, you are allowed to borrow up to a maximum 2 players to get your roster to 9, but you are not allowed to exceed 9 players on a roster with borrowed players. Borrowed players must be from within the league. They can be from another town in the league but CAN'T be a select player or from a higher division. Borrowed players must play outfield and can't pitch AND will bat last in the batting order.  If you elect to play the game with 7-8 players and you choose to not use borrowed players to get to 9, you will take a maximum of 1 out after the last player in the batting order bats. ***The league retains the right to make roster exemptions in special circumstances.

There will be no adjusting of the rules at the plate meeting.

CONTESTING A RULE VIOLATION:

You must contest a rule violation during the game. Contesting a rule violation after the game will not change the outcome of the game.
